Antique Advertising Designed by Augustus Jansson for Queen City Printing Ink Co.

An early 20th century letterpress advertisement designed by listed American illustrator Augustus Jansson (Massachusetts, 1866 – 1931) for The Queen City Printing Ink Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. This print depicts three figures in a row, each dressed in a fanciful suit and wearing a hat. The figure to the far left holds a sign that proclaims ‘Get the Queen City ink habit’. This work is unsigned. It is presented behind a white mat with black liner, under glass, in a bronze tone composite frame and is ready to hang with a wire. A second small advertisement featuring an art deco style illustration of a woman diving into a lake is present to the verso. It is signed in the plate to the lower right and is unframed.
Condition
- toning to print. Foxing and toning to mat. Minor wear to frame. Small tears, damage to corners, and accretion to unframed ephemera.
