1914 J.D. Kestner "Hilda" Bisque and Composition Doll
Item Details
An antique bisque and composition Hilda doll by J.D. Kestner. The doll is comprised of a hand-painted bisque socket head featuring molded hair, feathered brows, blue inset glass eyes, and an open mouth revealing a pair of front teeth. Her composition body features bent arms and knees, and is adorned in a ruffled ivory bonnet and dress. Her feet are clad in hand crocheted booties, while the back of her head is impressed ‘Hilda © J.D.K. Jr. 1914’ and ‘Made in Germany’.

Condition
- one finger partly broken off, cracking throughout composition, discoloration and spotting throughout dress, silk bonnet is faded and frayed, the piece of wood visible in the last photo indicates that the head has likely been removed and refurbished, this new support piece was added to provide structure to support the head on the torso, also the bisque head is very clean compared to the composition parts, this is common in refurbishing dolls.
