Finely Hand-Knotted Persian Moud Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Persian Moud wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, sky blue, indigo, cranberry, teal, camel, and wheat. The lozenged ivory colored field begins with a sunflower pendant medallion, while grounded in indigo, each designed with a dense herati pattern throughout, and enclosed by ornately designed spandrels. Framing the field is a main ivory grounded border with herati aspects, and added boteh, and diamond forms. There are also cartouche and florette designed guard borders, along with striped minor borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges with a wool warp fringe to the ends, as well as vinyl bands sewn to the edges underside. There is also the remains of a label to the underside, but it is unreadable.
