Hand-Knotted Persian "Garaja" Wool Carpet Runner
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Garajah wool carpet runner. This rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, indigo, ivory, wheat, madder red, and slate. The cranberry colored field features five alternating hooked hexagonal, and square medallions, as well as guls, animals, amulet forms, arrows, and small filler motifs throughout. Framing the field is an indigo grounded main border uniquely designed with branched forms, tree motifs, and rectilinear designs. There are also chained minor borders, and Hamadan guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. It is labeled by ‘Ghandi The Exporter of Persian Hand-Woven Rugs’.
