Item Details
A handwoven Indo-Persian Heriz wool soumak area rug. This rug has a chain-stitched pile, and it is rendered in a palette of ivory, rust, sand, gold, taupe, and sage. The ivory colored field features an allover design of over-sized palmettes and medallions latticed with lancette leaves, and floral motifs. Framing the field is a rust grounded stylized herati border, along with floral meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a wool warp fringe to the ends. This rug is labeled ‘Indo-Persian Heriz’.
