Item Details

An antique mahogany and poplar child’s rope bed, Mount Hope Plantation, Mississippi, 19th century. The four-poster frame retains remnants of an old, if not original, alligatored finish. The ends are joined by poplar side rails with raised, rope pegs and the sleeping platform is fitted with a strand of later rope.
