An etching on paper titled Early Morning by American artist Richard E. Bishop (1887-1975). This work is titled in graphite to the lower left margin and signed by hand in graphite to the lower right. Presented under glass with off-white matting, it is housed in a brown wood frame. A handwritten inscription is present to the verso.

Richard Bishop was a painter, etcher, and writer known for his wildlife compositions. He studied at Cornell University, the Graphic Sketch Club in New York City, and later with Ernest D. Roth. He illustrated Edgar Queeney’s book Prairie Wings and authored Bishop’s Birds published in 1936. His work has been collected by multiple institutions including the Honolulu Art Museum, the Syracuse Museum of Fine Arts, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, among others.

- some wear in frame includes stains and scratches scattered throughout; frame is loose and needs securing.
