Hand-Knotted Indo-Bijar Wool Palace Size Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Indo-Bijar palace size rug. This wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of cranberry, aqua, emerald, sapphire, olive, goldenrod, rose, and ivory and begins with a hexagonal pendant medallion infilled with palmette, rosettes, and foliage in a lattice pattern. The lozenge field is densely populated with a stylized herati motif, and extends to aqua spandrels which mirror the field pattern. Framing the field are floral meander and geometric guard borders, while the primary border displays a herati pattern over sapphire. The rug is finished with overcast selvedges, a short kilim skirt, and cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
