U.S. Marine Corps Mameluke Dress Sword by Hilborn-Hamburger With Case

A mameluke sword made for the United States Marine Corps by Hilborn-Hamburger. The Marine mameluke swords are designed after the first Mameluke given to Marines in 1805 by the Ottoman Empire, and are used as accessories to dress uniforms and are for ceremonial use. This sword is made from stainless steel and features acid etchings on the blade with heavy patterns that are a mix of old English script and scrolling and Ottoman floral and block patterns. The hilt of the sword is pearl in tone and features a pair of embossed stars. The scabbard for the sword is made from formed steel with the clasps and tip being gold toned. The blade is marked ‘Germany’ with serial no. 323 and has been engraved ‘H.P. Gold’. The sword and scabbard are stored in a black vinyl case marked ‘Hilborn-Hamburger Inc.’ and ‘Vitalon’.
