Vintage Chinese Rice Basket with Bamboo Handle

A vintage Chinese rice basket. This handmade gathering basket is comprised of tightly woven willow, lacquered in a waterproof substance, and topped with a gathered trio of bent bamboo handles. The piece is marked with three hand-painted Chinese characters to the middle handle, and was most likely used to harvest and weigh rice.

- surface scratches and wear throughout, finish is worn off in places.
