Antique Chippendale Style Mahogany Open Armchair and Side Chair
Item Details
An antique Chippendale style mahogany open armchair and side chair, late 19th to early 20th century. The frames feature gently-arched crests above pierced, Gothic splats over trapezoidal, spring-filled seats. The seats are upholstered in patriotic, needlepoint depicting a spread-winged eagle and the words ‘E Pluribus Unum’. Both chairs rise on cabriole, front legs with ball-and-claw feet joined to the raking, back legs by H-stretchers. They are unmarked by the maker.
- Not a matched pair. There are slight variations to ball-and-claw feet.
