Vintage Hand-Knotted Sino-Persian Room Sized Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Indo-Persian room sized area rug. This large wool pile rug is rendered in a palette of olive, umber, mulberry, wheat, midnight blue, and ivory and begins with a chain of oversized shah abbasi palmettes. The field is densely populated with arabesqued vines, lancet leaves, rosettes, and shah abbasi palmettes over midnight blue and framed by a floral meander guard border. A stylized herati pattern over sage completes the primary border. Finishing the piece are overcast selvedges, a brief kilim skirt, and cotton warp fringe. The rug is not labeled.
