Robert Rauschenberg Signed Limited Edition Mixed Media "Sketch for Monogram"
Item Details
A signed limited edition halftone lithograph with areas of serigraph by extremely well-listed American Modernist Robert Rauschenberg (1925 – 2008), titled Sketch for Monogram, 1959, printed in 1973 for the portfolio New York Collection for Stockholm. The original drawing the print is based on was a study for the artist’s sculpture Monogram, created from 1955–59. The print depicts loose sketches of the sculpture with dimensional notes and measurements. The print is signed in-plate to the lower left and is signed and numbered 261/300 in graphite to the lower left. The print is mounted to a white backing, matted in black, and presented behind glass in a natural wood frame with a hanging wire attached to the verso.
The New York Collection for Stockholm portfolio included thirty images printed in editions of 300 by Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T.), a non-profit organization co-founded by Rauschenberg to spur collaboration between artists and scientists.
