Joan Miró 1979 Woodblock Print "Miro Graveur IX"

Item Details

A monochromatic woodblock print on wove paper designed by very well-listed Spanish abstract artist Joan Miró (1893 – 1983), titled Miro Graveur IX. The block was carved in 1979 by the artist, but was not printed until after the artist’s death in 1991. There were 100 prints with a stamped signature printed at this time, as well as an open edition printed for volume 3 of the artist’s catalogue raisonne, Miró Graveur, edited by French gallery operator and art dealer Daniel Lelong (born 1933). The print depicts a tangle of lines and organic forms with highly-textured edges. The print is double-matted in beige and black and is presented behind glass in composite frame with cast surface embellishments, metallic bronze tone finish, and a hanging wire. A certificate of authenticity from ‘Intrinsic Values’ in San Diego, CA is attached to the verso.
