A posthumous cast bronze sculpture after well-noted French sculptor Hippolyte Heizler (1828-1871). The work depicts two aggressive hunting dogs in search of a small rabbit, which can be found hiding beneath the foliage. The piece is made from cast bronze and has a rich brown finish with very fine detailing throughout. It is mounted on an oblong molded base. Hippolyte Heizler’s signature is impressed into the metal to the back. The foundry mark is impressed into the base and reads SOCIÉTÉ DES BRONZES DE PARIS.
