Antique William Moyer and Sipe, Nicholas & Co Stoneware Jugs

A selection of William Moyer and Sipe, Nicholas & Co antique stoneware jugs. These two include a smaller ovoid ‘Wm. Moyer’ marked stoneware jug with the mark highlighted in cobalt and then with a hand-painted cobalt flower below the mark and around each end of the handle. Wm. Moyer was only in business a few years between 1858 and 1860. The ‘Sipe, Nicholas & Co Williamsport, PA’ marked three gallon stoneware jug has the mark and the ‘3’ highlighted in cobalt blue with a large hand-painted cobalt flower below it from the shoulder to just a few inches above the base. This piece also has a cobalt accent at each attachment point of the handle.

Condition
- Wm. Moyer jug has some manufacturing flaws to the surface; Sipe, Nicholas &Co. jug has small areas with no salt glaze near the bottom, cobalt drip below handle, kiln furniture marks to the bottom.
