Antique Red Wing Five Gallon Stoneware Butter Churn Crock

Item Details

An antique five gallon Red Wing stoneware butter churn crock. This buff colored salt-glazed stoneware crock has two ear handles to the sides and a cobalt underglaze ‘5’ and hand-painted ‘bee sting’ pattern to the front. The interior is lined in a dark brown Albany slip and the vessel has no identifiable maker’s marks.

Condition

- missing lid, scratches and residue around interior lip, marks to bottom, manufacturing flaw where the rim meets the body.
