African Djembe, Hand Carved
Item Details
An incredible, artisan crafted, African Djembe with a goat rawhide drum head. The drum head is stretched with wooden pegs driven into holes around the top of the drum. The upper sides of the drum is embellished with varied line patterning and figural carvings in low relief. The drum is supported by four figural legs, two female and two male, that rise out of a circular base, with a hatched pattern in low relief. A beautiful piece, less for playing and more for display.
Condition
The base exhibits a four inch sections that has broken off completely, but stays in place without gluing. This piece, being so beautifully crafted, retains its integrity.
