A vintage oil painting titled Portrait of Mrs. Allen Bell by Swedish American artist Herman Magnuson Linding (1880-1947). This piece depicts an older woman in a high-collared black blouse with black lace trim and her hair pulled back from her face. She has a stoic expression and stands in front of a softly lit green ground. The work is signed and dated ‘46’ to the lower left and labeled to the verso. It is presented in a gilt wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- craquelure throughout painting; chips of paint loss to lower right; accretion to surface; marked as cleaned and varnished in June 1971, chips, scuffs, and wear to frame.
