An antique ink drawing on paper titled Portal af en Kirke i Epernay. 1540. (Portal of a Church in Epernay. 1540.) by an anonymous artist. This architectural drawing depicts the upper portion of two Corinthian style columns with elaborate acanthus leaf and scrolled decoration and a frieze relief of arabesque vines rendered in thin, precise linework. It is titled in Danish to the lower center with the subtitle ‘efter Gewerbehalle’ (‘after the trade hall’) and dated 1874. The work is unsigned and presented behind a mat and glass in a gold tone wood frame with wire to the verso for hanging.

Condition

- discoloration to paper; buckling to paper; tears to paper; staining and scuff marks to mat; surface wear with finish loss to frame.
