Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Turkmen Tribal Area Rug

A semi-antique hand-knotted Turkmen tribal area rug. This wool rug has been worked in abrashed shades of ruby, espresso, charcoal and coral. It begins with three vertical rows of medallions, including Sariq polygons, elaborately hooked diamonds and Chemche bow and arrow motifs, over a ruby field. The field is framed by multiple borders, featuring soldier, boat-meander, almond blossom and sawtooth patterns. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at one end with a ruby kilim skirt and warp fringe made of camel and goat hair, while the other end has fringe and no skirt. The rug is unlabeled.
