This work depicts a stream flanked by defoliated birch trees with leaves in autumnal hues along the ground. This piece is signed to the lower right corner. The painting is presented in a light tone mat and gold tone wood frame.
George Howell Gay was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and later settled in Bronxville, New York. He is best known for his watercolor landscapes and and seascapes along the New England coast.
