A fine hand-knotted Indo-Caucasian Kazak rug. This rug features a vibrant carmine-red field ornamented with abstract and organic motifs in peach, butter yellow, sky blue, cobalt, cream, and sage green. The rug has a crenelated central medallion containing a lively arrangement of motifs, which is flanked by two identical side medallions containing abstract patterning in coordinating colors. The center field is bound on four sides by a resolved principal border showing abstract motifs, which is flanked by two pairs of minor borders, all of which employ the rug’s overall color palette. The rug is finished on both sides with a single-wrapped selvedge and to both ends with a natural warp fringe.
