5' x 7' Circa 1890s Hand-Knotted Caucasian Kazak Rug

An antique hand-knotted Caucasian Kazak rug, circa 1890s. This antique rug features an array of geometric motifs along the center field in alternating combinations of cobalt, carmine, cream, sienna, cerulean, lavender, coral, and umber. The center field is bound on four sides by a resolved principal border in coordinating colors, which is flanked by two sets of identical minor borders. The rug is finished with a double-wrapped selvedge to both sides and a short warp fringe to both ends.
