An antique hand-knotted Caucasian Kazak rug, circa 1890s. This antique rug features a low pile in cobalt blue, chocolate brown, beige, and black wool. The center field has a mirrored motif of geometric forms, which are bound on four sides by a crenelated trim. The rug has a principal border showing floral motifs employing the rug’s color palette, which is flanked by identical minor borders. The rug is finished with a double-wrapped selvedge to both sides and stitching to each end.
