Antique Walnut Slide-Lid Storage Chest on Associated, One-Drawer Stand
Item Details
An antique walnut slide-lid storage chest on an associated, one-drawer stand, 19th century. The dovetailed case features a rectangular, slide-lid opening to a divided interior. The exterior, front panel is fitted with a metal escutcheon and the chest is supported by a stand with a strip of waist molding over a single, poplar-lined drawer. The drawer front is fitted with a wooden knob and the whole piece rises on square, tapered legs.

- stand is associated/married to chest; scattered finish wear/losses with some scratches and marks; underside of lid with replaced edge strips (strips that slide into grooves of storage well); storage well with a lip repair and later corner reinforcement blocks; some later blocks to underside, which attach chest to stand; interior lock plate and escutcheon probably replaced; no key; other possible/minor repairs and restorations.
