Antique Walnut Diminutive Lift-Top Storage Chest, Possibly Southern

Item Details

An antique walnut diminutive lift-top storage chest, possibly southern, mid 19th century. The paneled, box-form case features pegged, mortise-and-tenon construction. It has a later, hinged lid opening to a vacant interior above a single, dovetailed drawer with a wooden knob. It rises on square, tapered legs.

Condition

- lid is a later replacement along with drawer knob; scattered scratches, nicks, and marks; interior baseboard between storage well and drawer has also been replaced; drawer backboard is later; small chip to front, left foot; a few other minor repairs/reinforcements to interior of drawer cavity; drawer retains interior lock plate but no key.
