Antique (In Part) Cherry Blanket Chest on Custom-Made Stand

Item Details

An antique (in part) cherry blanket chest on a custom-made stand. The dovetailed case dates to the nineteenth century and it features a rectangular lid with breadboard ends and iron, strap hinges opening to a covered, poplar till. It rests on a later, cherry stand with dovetailed, bracket feet.

Condition

- lid with a small patch repair and a couple shrinkage cracks; till has been modified/cut down in size; front, left corner of case rim with a repair directly to the left of the till; bottom board with a mouse chew hole near back, left corner; hinges secured with later screws; retains interior lock plate but missing latch on lid and key; stand is later; back feet of stand with repairs; other scratches, nicks, and imperfections as would be expected with age and use.
