Antique American Empire Tiger Maple, Cherry, and Walnut Chest of Drawers
Item Details
An antique American Empire tiger maple, cherry, and walnut chest of drawers, mid 19th century. The paneled case features a rectangular top above one dovetailed, long drawer over three inset, graduated drawers flanked by fully-turned, colonettes. The cockbeaded fronts are fitted with turned knobs and inlaid with kite-shaped escutcheons before poplar linings. There is a convex bumper at the front of the base and the chest rises on short, ring-turned legs ending in ball feet. The back retains an illegible inscription.

- to fair; scattered surface wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use; slightly heavier wear to feet; some former pest damage (worming) to front bumper; right side panel with a couple of minor putty repairs; front stiles/colonettes with some minor shrinkage cracks; drawers retain interior lock plates but no key.
