Lovely Vintage Custom-Made Wedding Gown
Item Details
A lovely vintage custom-made wedding gown, made in 1955 for the wedding of Mary Priest to Clyde Martin. Fifty-eight years later Mrs. Martin is still married to Clyde, and she’s ready to let someone else enjoy her gorgeous gown.
This gown was custom made for Mary by ‘two very talented Hungarian sisters’ (her words). This formal floor-length ivory satin gown features white tulle sleeves, over skirt and train. It has a princess silhouette, with a modest beaded floral lace sweetheart neckline, nipped basque waist, and a full bell shaped skirt. The back features a sweeping tulle train. Other features of this dress are white lace Juliet sleeves with ivory buttons, side seam zipper, under bust darts, two layers of tulle and a button up bodice. The lace is hand tacked.
Comes in a keepsake box where it has remained since being archived by Mullaire’s Finest French Dry Cleaning in 1959.
Condition
Stored in a keepsake box since 1959, the gown has wrinkled and needs to have the wrinkles removed by a professional. Two of the lace pieces on the back have come untacked at the corners, but could be easily repaired. See photos.
