Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Isfahan Golpayegan wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a variegated palette of crimson, cobalt, sapphire, cornsilk, ivory, gold, sage, and wheat. The lozenged crimson field features a large lobed pendant medallion infilled with a sapphire grounded herati design. The lozenge rests of a cobalt colored ground, which features flowering vines that flow into the lozenge, as well as ivory colored spandrels. Framing the field is a sapphire hued main stylized herati border, along with a pair of chained boteh and florette guard borders, and Hamadan guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is labeled ‘Made in: Iran’.
