8' x 11' Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Persian Mashhad Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique hand-knotted Persian Mashhad rug. This rug features a vibrant vermilion colored field densely ornamented with palmettes and guls and curvilinear vines in a lively color palette of mustard yellow, emerald, cobalt, pale blue, petal pink, sinopia, cream, and coffee brown. The rug has a compound medallion to the center adorned with floral patterning which is repeated in the rug’s four corner spandrels. The center field is trimmed with a floral patterned minor border which is flanked by narrow borders containing the same geometric patterning with distinct coloring, beyond which is a broad principal border showing a resolved floral pattern similar to that of the medallion and spandrels. The rug is finished with a natural warp fringe to both ends and a single-wrapped selvedge to both sides.
