A fine hand-knotted Persian Zanjan rug. This rug features a sinopia-colored field ornamented with geometric patterning in slate blue, apricot, moss green, and umber, with a crenelated medallion to the center. The rug has four corner spandrels containing stylized fauna motifs in umber on cream. The center field is bound by a principal border containing a repeating geometric floral-inspired pattern integrating the rug’s color scheme, which is flanked by identical minor borders with abstract patterning. The rug is finished with a single-wrapped selvedge to both sides and a natural warp fringe to both ends.
