An antique Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co. ceramic mantel clock. An antique fine porcelain clock with a hand-painted and gilded finish. The case features a fretwork bonnet and side panels on a French style case with a painted red rose design on side finials. The clock features a brass framed glass cover and an antique white porcelain face with black Arabic numbers and hands. The case is surrounded by ceramic and gilded embossed scrollwork and displays a painted image below the clock. The image has a red, pink and green pallete with a Victorian couple set in a landscape scene and a pink floral and gilded frame. Other features of the clock include an 8-day time and strike movement and the clock stands on a fretwork base with gilded and red rose painted ceramic feet. The clock is marked with the ‘Wm. L. Gilbert’ logo on the face.
