A Cypriot culture barrel-jug, circa 850-700 B.C.E. The fine example, unearthed in Cyprus and retaining the lead tag from the Museum of Cyprus as well as paperwork from the Government of Cyprus, features the classical slightly oblong body, first developed during the Iron age in Cyprus and utilized for storing water; the jug is ornamented with line work and geometric patterns. With an applied handle and round mouth, the piece also retains a catalog number written on the interior of the mouth.
