Item Details
A hand-knotted Anatolian area rug. This short-pile wool rug features a bold key-hole design in brick red, celadon, ochre and zephyr yellow. It begins with a brick red field filled with a large-scale allover kufic pattern with script-like scrolls and key-hole centers in celadon outlined in ochre. Framing the field is a wide border filled with abstracted foliate detail in ochre outlined in zephyr yellow over celadon. Selvedges are double overcast, the rug finishing at each end with serged mesh. It is unlabeled.
