Semi-Antique Hand-Knotted Turkish Urgup Area Rug
Item Details
A semi-antique Turkish Urgup area rug. This short-pile wool rug is finely hand knotted in a palette of camel, scarlet, coral, apricot, ochre, cream and mocha. It begins with a large, layered floral medallion, with pendants at two ends, over an open, camel-colored field. The field is bracketed with deep spandrels, layered in ochre, camel, coral and cream. Framing the field are six borders, grounded in coral, camel and apricot. These include a complex main border featuring boat-like palmettes over camel. Selvedges are triple overcast, the rug finishing at each end with long, fine tan warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
