Item Details
A pair of antique Haviland Limoges porcelain portrait plates. The hand-painted plates depict female figures with fair hair in white gowns on mottled gray and brown ground surrounded by gilt leaves and panels of flowers to the cobalt blue verges flanked by encrusted, beaded borders. Le Nid and Avril plates are signed by the artists below the portraits appearing to read ‘A. Soustre/J’apres Chaplin.’ They bear the ‘H & Co. L France’ production mark used between 1888-96 and an importer mark from Bailey Banks & Biddle of Philadelphia.
