A hand-knotted Sarouk-style wool area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of cream, azure, rose, camel and midnight blue. It begins with a layered, oblong medallion grounded in cream and azure and filled with palmettes, morning glories, whirling vines, wildflowers and foliates, elements that continue in the field and spandrels. The medallion rests on a rose field with deep azure spandrels. Framing the field are three borders, including a herati main border featuring palmettes, lancet leaves, wildflowers and vines over midnight blue. Minor borders feature simpler herati patterns over camel. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
