Antique Flame Mahogany Plantation Secretary on Chest
Item Details
An antique plantation secretary on a chest of drawers, with flame mahogany veneers throughout. The stepped back hutch has two large blind panel doors that open to fixed shelving set over three smaller blind panel doors that open to small, hand cut dovetailed drawers with scalloped aprons over divided shelving. A felted work surface folds open and rests on pulls. The bottom portion has a pair of drawers aligned and overhanging three stacked, full length drawers; all the drawers have hand cut dovetail joints and gold metal knobs. The lower drawers are set between columnar stiles carved with reed and leaf twisting accents and ending on paw feet. To the back are horizontally set unfinished boards. There are no visible maker’s marks, but two vintage moving tags remain affixed to the back.

Condition
Bottom left feet are completely detached, but seem to be able to be re-attached.
Veneer chipped in some spots, missing along border in spots.
