A handwoven Caucasian Kazak wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of scarlet, sepia, madder red, sapphire, ivory, goldenrod, and celedon. The field features a bold design beginning with a pole of serrated forms, each infilled with a cruciform element and large palmettes. The three medallions also display filler motifs of rosettes, S-forms, tree of life motifs, along with other rectilinear symbols. Framing the field is a main bracket and box border grounded in celedon, along with a colorful sawtooth guard border, and an arrow patterned guard border. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a short wool warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
