Paul Chidlaw Original Ink Drawing on Paper
Item Details
An original ink drawing on paper by well-listed American Abstract Expressionist Paul Chidlaw (Cincinnati, 1900 – 1989). The drawing depicts what appears to be an abstracted landscape illustrated in short strokes of bright blue, orange, red, yellow, and purple ink. The drawing is unsigned, but the artist’s estate stamp is visible to its verso. Presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.
Chidlaw was born in Cleves, Ohio and studied at both the Cincinnati Art Academy and L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Fontainebleau, France. He returned to Cincinnati where he then taught at the Art Academy mentoring many students. He was considered a pioneer of the Abstract movement, at the time, and he remains one of Cincinnati’s best-loved native artists. His artwork is displayed at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Xavier University.
