Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Luri Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Luri wool area rug. This nearly square wool rug is rendered in a markedly abrashed and faded palette of rose, coral, cornsilk, mocha, ochre, sage, midnight blue and azure. It features an allover mir-a-boteh pattern of small boteh motifs in midnight blue with highlights in azure, sage and ochre over a rose-and-coral field. The field is framed by six borders, including an unresolved samovar border featuring meandering palmettes of cornsilk. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short tan wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
