An original 1985 ink drawing on paper by American artist Carol J. Mathews (1956-2015). This abstract line drawing features a small cat sitting by the door of a fanciful building. This piece is unsigned with the artist’s name indicated to the verso, and is dated to the lower right. It is presented behind a white mat with a black liner, under glass, in a black composite frame and is ready to hang with a metal tab or for table top display.
Mathews, known for her colorful and expressive paintings and drawings, describes her work as follows: ‘having painted for over 25 years, it is difficult to describe my art but whimsical, abstract, and fantasy come to mind.’ After years of suffering from mental illness, Carol’s art became a crucial conduit for her internal turmoil.
