Finely Hand-Knotted Kashmir Sarouk Silk Room Sized Rug
Item Details
A finely hand-knotted Kashmir Sarouk silk room sized rug. This elaborate rug is rendered in a palette of wine, ivory, mauve, cornsilk, hunter, slate blue, indigo, camel, and ice blue. The lozenged wine hued field begins with a scalloped diamond shaped pendant medallion, while infilled with an array of ornate floral motifs. The ornately designed flowers fill the lozenge, as well as the ivory ground, and mauve and cornsilk layered spandrels, depicting purling vine-work, sprays, palmettes, and lancette leaves. Framing the field is a stylized herati with added blooms, along with flower designed guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is labeled to the underside ‘Made in Kashmir’.
