Item Details
A handwoven Caucasian soumak area rug. This flat-woven rug features a lattice pattern of kochak guls, eight-pointed stars, flowers, and endless knot motifs in the center field. It is surrounded with a zigzag and cup primary border with checked and crab guard borders. The rug is woven in a palette of scarlet, teal, pine green, indigo, golden yellow, brown, and cream. It is finished with overcast selvedges and a warp fringe to the ends. The piece is unmarked.
