A Japanese cast bronze laying lion sculpture by Masatsune from the Meiji period (1868-1912). The male lion is depicted in a comfortable and lounging position with his head resting atop his front legs. The underside is marked ‘Masatsune Casting’ (政常鋳 Masatsune chū).
