Merle Rosen was a prominent Cincinnati folk artist, creating art for more than 40 years. She showed extensively in museums and galleries including the Contemporary Arts Center (Cincinnati), J.B. Speed Museum (Louisville, KY), Kharkiv Museum in the Ukraine, Cincinnati Art Galleries, Carnegie Arts Center (Covington, KY), Chaucer Galleries (Scottsdale, AZ), and C.A.G.E. During her lifetime, Rosen received six individual artists grants from the City of Cincinnati. In addition to institutional and private collections, Rosen’s work his housed in numerous corporate collections, including: The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati Bell, Scripps Howard, Bethesda Hospitals, Ulmer & Berne and Cardinal Aluminum. Rosen worked in a multitude of mediums and she began teaching art professionally at the age of 15 and taught throughout her career.
