An antique framed embroidery and watercolor on silk pictorial tapestry. Featured is an oval vignette including a depiction of a young woman holding a lamb in her arms while another looks on, with trees and a house in the background rendered in embroidered silk with water color embellishment. The vignette is framed by embroidered vines, flowers, and ribbon. The piece is presented in an antique gessoed wood frame and has no visible maker’s marks.

Condition

- discoloration throughout silk and threads; abrasions and tears to silk in areas; holes to silk at right and to lower left; chipping and cracks throughout molding with loss to upper left and to right; discoloration throughout finish of frame.
