Hand-Knotted Persian Qom Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Qom wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of canberry, indigo, powder blue, cream, sage, wheat, and teal. The cranberry colored field begins with an ogee shaped pendant medallion, while enclosed by powder blue and cream layered spandrels, each with a floral and foliate theme. The field also features scrolling vine-work with an abundance of lancette leaves, palmettes, and blossoms, as well as mother-daughter boteh motifs near the spandrels. Framing the field is an indigo grounded main stylized herati border with added cloud-band forms, along with a pair of floral meander guard borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton warp fringe to the ends. This rug is unlabeled.
